At Raleigh Brewing, we strive to embrace our wonderful City of Oaks community. We provide exciting events that involve local homebrewers as well as local charities on a regular basis. Our attached 3,300 sq-ft. homebrew store provides knowledgeable service to our patrons & teaches educational classes on brewing & beer. Our brewery is located down the street from the PNC Stadium, Fairgrounds, Meredith College and NC State. We couldn’t think of a better place to be located! As Kristie Nystedt is the majority owner in Raleigh Brewing Company it make us the first female owned brewery in North Carolina.
Kristie Nystedt – President and CEO
Kristie, an avid craft beer fan and homebrewer, has worked within manufacturing and software business throughout her career and will bring 20 years of extensive experience in many areas of running a successful business. Kristie will bring her passion for craft beer and a women’s touch to the craft brew industry.
Patrik Nystedt – COO and Technical Manager
Is an engineer and chemist at heart and a pilot by profession. Patrik will bring his technical expertise and commitment to quality and excellence to every beer Raleigh Brewing Company makes. It may be his blue eyes and blonde hair that give it away, as we are confident that this Swedish brewer will knock your socks off with his crafty ales.
John Federal – Production Manager and Brewer
You may recognize this gentleman from his 4 ½ year stint as American Brewmaster’s general manager and brewing instructor. John Federal has joined the Raleigh Brewing Company and Atlantic Brew Supply team as a jack of many trades. From marketing, sales, brewing, and team management, John will be helping both businesses to function properly and efficiently. His favorite beers to drink are Berliner-weisse, Munich Helles, and a nice, hoppy Rye IPA. His favorite beers to brew are Rye IPA, his very own Honey Basil ale, and anything that challenges him in the brewhouse. When John is not at the brewery he is playing bass in a number of local bands. Alex Smith – Yeast Lab Manager and Brewer
Alex’s brewing career started in Athens, GA where he was majoring in Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Georgia while working at the local homebrew store, gastropub and a bottle shop. Between this gauntlet of activities, he still found time to build a semi-automated brewing system and use it multiple times a week. Following graduation, he spent a 18 months in Vietnam where he was able to head the country’s second homebrew club and keep his brewing chi strong. Upon his arrival in Raleigh in November 2012, he quickly jumped on board with Raleigh Brewing Company as a brewer and the Yeast Lab Manager. When not brewing beer or our very own kombucha, he can be found peering into a microscope or enjoying his two favorite beers at RBC: Moravian Rhapsody and Hidden Pipe.
Ashley Stewart – Taproom Manager/Event Coordinator
Ashley fell in love with the craft beer scene more than five years ago when she entered the industry. Since that point, it has been nothing but beer, beer, beer! Her experience in the customer service industry combined with her hop headed nature have made her right at home at RBC. Between coordinating food trucks, music and other events, you can usually find her sipping on a House of Clay Rye IPA.
Duane Wood – Sales Representative
Duane first developed an appreciation for great beer as a bartender during and after college, doing his absolute best to turn people away from all that beer flavored water out there. He first came to North Carolina in 2005 and is very proud to call Raleigh his home. As you can tell from his hat Duane is an avid supporter of the Virginia Tech Hokies, sorry to all the fans of the local schools in the area. His favorite beer is the House of Clay Rye IPA.
